My Blog turns 2 today !!. I’m actually quite surprised and thrilled about my blogging journey thus far. It just started of as a hobby, simply because I love to cook, also after moving here to the States, sitting at home really drove me crazy! I needed to do something with all the spare time I had. Hi guys ! Hope everyone is doing great! First off let me start with some exciting news happening on my home front ! My daughter Katelyn was born on the 24th of February , and hence I’ve been away from blogging for a while. Y’all know the drill of having a newborn around if you’ve been there, done that 😀 This post and the ones that will follow in the coming weeks are all scheduled, as I was sure I wouldn’t have much time at hand to blog. And I also know taking a break only makes it harder to return. Experienced this in June last year and it took me 2 months to get back to blogging again. So this time I did a little homework to avoid that scenario 🙂 I will surely catch up on all your posts sooner, meanwhile I’m enjoying this precious phase for the second time in my life.
I never imagined I would be baking breads at home. But then as you know things happen and you end up really surprising yourself by doing things you never dreamt about doing in the first place. As intimidating as baking breads seem, it really isn’t, once you get past that initial fear ! I still consider myself an amateur in this area, and still have a long way to go ! The different kinds of flour, bakers percentage, hydration , bulk ferment, sourdough, artisan, Polish, biga to name a few are words that I’ve probably never ever came across before ! Now I know the words, but still have to know how to work with a couple of them. I have tried my hands at sourdough and I hope to do a post on that in the coming months too 🙂
Reblogging last year’s post:
It’s exactly 10 day to Christmas! Woohoo!! My preps are in full swing, although I still have a fair bit left to be done! Remember my post on rum soaked dry fruits? It was about time for those drunken, boozy dry fruits to be used in the making of the the Christmas fruit cake-A cake that is a rich with rum soaked dry fruits, absolutely moist and reminiscent of spices. Wow! My kitchen was brimming with the aroma of all the warm spices:) Continue reading →
Bebinca , also known as bebic, is a classic and popular Goan multi layered dessert that features in most festivities, be it Christmas, Easter, weddings or Christenings. It is made using flour, egg yolks, sugar, butter, coconut milk and nutmeg. Continue reading →
It was my little one’s 3rd birthday on October 11th! To celebrate the occasion , I wanted to make a different flavored cake rather than the conventional chocolate/vanilla cake. I absolutely love butterscotch cake, I remember eating lots of it a kid, from pastries to Swiss rolls, you name it! I was sure my son would love it too! So butterscotch cake it was!
